Preface

Preface

This preface discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of this publication.

Audience

This guide is for both first-time and experienced users who want to learn about the features and operation of their Cisco ONT 10311 and Cisco ESSE2. The user is presumed to be a network administrator managing a number of Cisco ONT 1031 devices using the Cisco ESSE graphical user interface (GUI). The user is not necessarily the administrator of the Cisco ESSE itself. System administration tasks not available in the GUI are described in the setup and installation guide that shipped with the Cisco ESSE.

Purpose

This user guide provides detailed information about the user interface for the Cisco ESSE and some general information you will need to manage Cisco ONT 1031 devices using the Cisco ESSE. It does not cover installing the Cisco ESSE appliance in a rack or configuring interoperability for the Cisco ESSE and the network environment it functions in. The purpose of this guide is to help you use the Cisco ESSE GUI interface.

This guide does not contain user service procedures for the Cisco ESSE. For information on how to replace system components, contact your sales representative. Cisco does not support unassisted service of the Cisco ESSE by users.
