About This Guide

This manual provides information about how to install and manage the Cisco ATM Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) SBus adapter. Each SBus adapter comes with a suite of software that includes the Cisco ATM SBus adapter utility (atmstat). This document describes the use of the Cisco ATM SBus adapter utility for ATM configuration management and network performance monitoring. Pertinent ATM concepts are also described as they relate to the use and management of the Cisco ATM SBus adapter.

Audience

This publication is designed for network administrators and people responsible for setting up and maintaining the Cisco ATM SBus adapter. You should have a basic background knowledge of the UNIX system, shell commands, TCP/IP protocols, and ATM networking.

Caution  This caution symbol means reader be careful. You are capable of doing something that might result in equipment damage or loss of data.

Warning This warning symbol means danger. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Before you work on any equipment, be aware of the hazards involved with electrical circuitry and be familiar with standard practices for preventing accidents. The warning symbol also means that you can see the warning in multiple languages in "Translated Safety Warnings."
