This document explains how to remove and replace the power feed panel component of a Cisco broadband fixed wireless system. It includes instructions for powering down the system, removing an installed power feed panel, and installing a new power feed panel.

The power feed panel provides DC power, transmit and receive IF signals, frequency reference, and control signals to the wireless transverter subsystem (often referred to as the outdoor unit or ODU) of a Cisco broadband fixed wireless system. The unit contains circuit breakers for the power, as well as secondary lightning protection circuitry for the control cables.
The power feed panel consists of the following components:
Figure 2 shows the front panel and Figure 3 shows the rear panel of the power feed panel. Table 1 describes the functions of the LEDs. Table 2 describes the functions of the connectors.

Follow these basic guidelines when working with any electrical equipment.
When working with any equipment that is connected to telephone wiring or to other network cabling, use the following guidelines:
To remove and replace the power feed panel, follow these instructions.
Warning Do not work on the system or connect or disconnect cables during periods of lightning activity. To see translations of the warnings that appear in this publication, refer to the "Regulatory Compliance and Safety Information" section in this document. |
To remove the power feed panel, complete the following tasks:
1. Shutting Down the Wireless Link
2. Disconnecting the Power
3. Removing the Cables
4. Removing the Power Feed Panel from an Equipment Rack or from a Wall
The power feed panel is a required component of the broadband fixed wireless system, and can only be removed when the wireless link is down. Using the procedures established at your installation, shut down the wireless link with the shut command.
To disconnect the DC power from the power feed panel, complete the following tasks:
Warning Before performing any of the following procedures, ensure that power is removed from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is OFF, locate the circuit breaker on the panel board that services the DC circuit, switch the circuit breaker to the OFF position, and tape the switch handle of the circuit breaker in the OFF position. Step 2 Remove the terminal block from the receptacle. (See Figure 5.)
To remove the cables from the power feed panel, complete the following tasks:

Step 2 Remove the IF cable from the Main/MC port. If you are using the diversity feature, also remove the IF cable from the Diversity/MC port.
Step 3 Remove the control cable from the Control-Main/ODU port. If you are using the diversity feature, also remove the control cable from the Control-Diversity/ODU port.
Step 4 Remove the control cable from the Control-Main/MC port. If you are using the diversity feature, also remove the control cable from the Control-Diversity/MC port.
Step 5 Remove the screws from the ground lug. (See Figure 6.)
To remove the power feed panel from an equipment rack, complete the following tasks:
Note If the power feed panel is mounted on a wall, refer to the "Removing the Power Feed Panel from a Wall" section. |
Step 2 Remove the brackets attached to each side of the power feed panel. (See Figure 8.)
Step 3 Move the unit to another location for shipment or disposal.
To remove the power feed panel from a wall or plywood backboard, complete the following tasks:

Step 2 Remove the brackets attached to each side of the power feed panel. (See Figure 10.)
Step 3 Move the unit to another location for shipment.
To replace the power feed panel, complete the following tasks:
1. Installing the Power Feed Panel in an Equipment Rack or on a Wall
2. Attaching the Cables
3. Reinstating the Power
4. Initiating the Wireless Link
To install the power feed panel in an equipment rack, complete the following tasks:

Step 2 Attach the mounting brackets to both sides of the unit. (See Figure 11.)
Step 3 Attach the brackets on both sides of the power feed panel to the equipment rack. (See Figure 12.)
To install the power feed panel on a wall or plywood backboard, complete the following tasks:
Note If the power feed panel is to be installed in an equipment rack, refer to the "Installing the Power Feed Panel in an Equipment Rack" section. |
Step 2 Attach the mounting brackets to both sides of the unit. (See Figure 13.)
Step 3 Attach the brackets on both sides of the power feed panel to the wall or plywood backboard. (See Figure 14.)
To attach the cables to the new power feed panel, complete the following tasks:
Step 2 Attach the control cable to the Control-Main/MC port. If you are using the diversity feature, also attach the control cable to the Control-Diversity/MC port.
Step 3 Attach the control cable from the Control-Main/ODU port. If you are using the diversity feature, also attach the control cable to the Control-Diversity/ODU port.
Step 4 Attach the IF cable to the Main/MC port. If you are using the diversity feature, also attach the IF cable to the Diversity/MC port.
Step 5 Attach the IF cable to the Main-ODU/Output port. If you are using the diversity feature, also attach the IF cable to the Diversity-ODU/Output port.
After replacing the power feed panel and attaching the cables, you must reinstate the power. To reinstate the power to the power feed panel complete the following tasks:
Step 2 After wiring the DC power supply, remove the tape from the circuit breaker switch handle and reinstate power by moving the handle of the circuit breaker to the ON position.
Step 3 Switch the wireless transverter power/breaker switches on the rear panel to the ON position. (See Figure 17.)
Using the procedures established at your installation, reinstate the wireless link with the no shut command.
This completes the procedure for removing or replacing the power feed panel in a Cisco broadband fixed wireless system.
