This chapter describes how to set up a Control Server, Archive Server, or Broadcast Server. After the servers are set up, you can create on-demand, scheduled, and live-capture programs (see "Defining Programs").
To set up a Control Server, you must define your Archive Server and Broadcast Server in the IP/TV Content Manager.
Note The Control Server has Internet Explorer preinstalled. You can also access the IP/TV Content Manager from another machine using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
To define an Archive Server or Broadcast Server in the IP/TV Content Manager, follow these steps:
where contentmanagerhost is the name of the Control Server on which the IP/TV Content Manager is installed.
Step 2 From the IP/TV Content Manager main page, click the Servers link.
Step 3 On the Servers page, click the New Server link on the task bar.
Step 4 On the New Server page, enter server information.
Note In the OnDemand Information section of the New Server page, check IP/TV OnDemand Server if you are defining an Archive Server, and Other File Server if you defining a Broadcast Server. Note also that while the default capacity of a new server is 5 Mbps, the server capacity can be set as high as 37 Mbps depending on the constraints of your network.
Step 5 Click the Define Server button.
See "Defining Servers" in Chapter 4 of the IP/TV Content Manager manual for more detailed information.
