Configuring Automatic
Number Identifiers

This chapter provides procedures for using the INS (DAS) ANI Configuration menus, which are selected from the StrataView Plus Main Menu. It includes the following sections:

1. Add an ANI entry
2. Modify an ANI entry
3. Delete an ANI entry
4. List all ANI entries

The DAS (INS) Daemon software must be installed on the StrataView Plus Workstation for the DAS (INS) ANI Configuration menu option to appear on the StrataView Plus Main Menu. The DAS (INS) Daemon software installation is covered in Chapter 7, Configuring Automatic Number Identifiers.

Accessing the ANI Configuration Interface

This section describes how to use the DAS (INS) ANI Configuration Interface to configure frame-relay port parameters for Dial-Up and Dial-Backup calls. DAS (INS) ANI Configuration must be completed for each ANI before you can configure a Dial-Up or Dial-Backup connection for that ANI.

To access the ANI Configuration Interface, follow these steps:

Step 1 Log in to StrataView Plus and access the StrataView Plus main menu.

Step 2 Select 9, INS ANI Configuration, and the ANI Configuration Interface menu, shown in the following example, appears.

Using the ANI Configuration Interface

You can use the INS/DAS ANI Configuration Interface menu to establish, list, or delete ANI parameters. (These parameters are similar to the standard Cisco wide-area switch frame relay port parameters configured with the Configure Frame Relay Port [cnffrport] command for a T1/E1 port.)

To use the ANI Configuration Interface menu, simply select an index number (1-4) and press Enter. The ANI Configuration Interface menu options are described in the following sections.

1. Add an ANI entry

Use this menu to configure the Frame Relay port parameters associated with an ISDN calling number, i.e., ANI.

Add an ANI Entry Example Menu ******************************************************************************** * * * * * * * ANI [ ] ANI Type [ ] * * Max Transmit Queue Depth [ ] Port ECN Queue Threshold [ ] * * DE Threshold [ ] Signaling Protocol [ ] * * NNI Status [ ] Asynchronous Status [ ] * * Polling Verification Timer [ ] Error Threshold [ ] * * Monitored Events Count [ ] Communicate Priority [ ] * * Upper RNR Threshold [ ] Lower RNR Threshold [ ] * * OAM Threshold [ ] ForeSight over Port (CLLM) [ ] * * Map IDE to DE at Egress [ ] Min Flags between Frames [ ] * * * * Enter 'c' to commit changes or 'q' to quit [ ] * * * * * * * * INFO: caller phone number, up to 20 digits long * ********************************************************************************

On this screen, the cursor moves from left-to-right between fields, then down to the next row. So the fields are listed below in the order that the cursor will move through them:

ANI Type the caller phone number. Maximum 20 digits without punctuation.
ANI Type Specifies whether the ANI is a dialup or dial backup.

Type either 1 (dial-up) or 2 (dial backup).

Max Transmit Queue Depth Type the maximum bytes to be queued for transmission from the port. Use a value within the range 0 to 65535 bytes.
Port ECN Queue Limit Specifies the port explicit congestion notification. This value controls the point at which the BECN and FECN bits will be set in the communications to the user device.

Type a value within the range of 0 to 65535 bytes.

DE Threshold Type a number to define the port queue depth above which frames with the Discard Eligibility bit set will be discarded. Use a value within the range 0 to 100%. A setting of 100% effectively disables DE for the port.
Signaling Protocol Specifies the LMI operation mode.

Use a value within the range 1 to 4:

· No signaling protocol

· Strata LMI

· Annex A

· Annex D

NNI Status This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Asynchronous Status This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Polling Verification Timer This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Error Threshold This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Monitored Events Count This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Communicate Priority This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Upper RNR Threshold This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
Lower RNR Threshold This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
OAM Threshold This field is not configurable. It will contain a 0 in the List All ANI entries records.
ForeSight over Port (CLLM) Specifies the interval to send ForeSight congestion messages across the NNI port. Networks incorporating this value must be Cisco WAN switching networks.

Type 0 to disable, or

Type a value within the range 4 to 35 in 100ths of a second (i.e., 4 equals 40 milliseconds and 35 equals 350 milliseconds).

Map IDE to DE at Egress Specifies whether the internal DE bit (IDE) status in the FastPacket should be mapped to the frame relay bit at the destination.

Type either 1 (no) or 2 (yes).

Min Flags between Frames Specifies the minimum number of flags between frames.

Type a value within the range 1 to 255 flags.

2. Modify an ANI entry

Use this menu to modify an ANI configuration recorded which has already been "added". You enter the configured ANI, such as 8821244 in the ANI field, then enter 'm' in the next field as shown in the example screen. The ANI Record screen shown in the next example appears. This screen is exactly the same as the Add an ANI screen, described previously, with the configured parameters displayed. You can tab through these fields and modify any of the configurable parameters with the exception of the ANI field.

3. Delete an ANI entry

Use this screen to remove an ANI from the INS/DAS configuration list. Before deleting an ANI record, you must delete all the dormant connections configured for it with the StrataView Plus Connection Manager.

4. List all ANI entries

Use this screen to view the current list of configured ANIs. The --More-- at the bottom of the screen indicates that there are other configured ANIs to scroll through. The top of the screen (for example, Router entries: 1 of 47) indicates the current position in the list of ANI records. Pressing Enter will step through the individual records. After the last record, you are returned to the ANI Configuration Interface menu.
