Read Me First—Campus Bundle for AIX

The Campus bundle provides applications for configuring, administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting a campus network. It enables network administrators to more effectively manage their LAN and campus networks.

You must install the software in this package on a system that meets specific requirements. You will need to configure client systems and some applications before use.

What the Bundle Contains

The Campus Bundle for AIX contains:


Note   In addition to the enclosed paper documents, PDF versions of product documentation are available on the product CDs. Refer to the installation instructions for individual products and print out the relevant documentation before proceeding with the installation.

Installation Prerequisites

Table 1 shows the minimum server requirements for each application and combinations of application.

If used as a client, a browser is required (refer to Table 2)

    • IBM workstation running AIX 4.3.3.

    • IBM PC-compatible computer with 300 MHz Pentium processor running Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, or Windows 98.

    • Solaris SPARCstation or Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris 2.5.1 or Solaris 2.6.

    • HP-UX workstation running HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0.

  • Color monitor with video card set to at least 256 colors.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or 5.01(Windows NT, Windows 95/98).
    Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 5.0.0.3186 or later.

Installing the Bundle


Caution You must install CD One before installing any other applications. While it is strongly recommended that you follow the order of installation described in this section, you can install the applications in any order. However, you must install Campus Manager 3.0 before you install Campus Manager 3.0.1 (Voice Patch).

Table 3 shows the recommended order in which you should install the software in this bundle.

    1. Install CiscoWorks2000 CD One Third Edition. This typically takes about 1 hour.

    2. Install Resource Manager Essentials 3.2 on the server. This typically takes about 1 hour.

    3. Install Campus Manager 3.0 on the server. This typically takes about 40 minutes.

    4. Install Campus Manager 3.0.1 (Voice Update) on the server.1

    5. Install TrafficDirector 5.8.1 on the server. This typically takes about 15 minutes.
