Videum's Setup program makes it easy to install, configure, and use. However, should problems occur, use the information in this appendix to attempt to correct the problem.
Before proceeding, be sure to read the README.TXT file located in the Videum program folder and refer to the online help. If you have a problem that cannot be solved using this appendix, contact technical support.
Hardware Problems
This section lists several things you should do to verify that your hardware is installed properly. Before proceeding, shut down your system and unplug the power cord.
Verify that the Videum capture board is completely seated in the PCI slot inside your Cisco IP/TV 3400 Series server. The board should be level and attached to the chassis using the mounting screw.
Verify that all of the cables are connected securely to the proper board. If you have a Winnov color video camera it must be connected to the MXC port on the Videum capture board. A camcorder, VCR or additional camera connects to either the S-Video and/or composite video ports.
An extensive FAQ Frequently Asked Questions is online in the Support area of www.winnov.com.
Installation Problems
If you have a problem after installation, verify that you have set all of the control panels according to the settings described in the chapter "Starting the Videum Software."
Video Problems
This section provides solutions for the most common video problems.
Black Video
If you have no video display, try the following:
Verify that your video source is properly connected to the Videum board and powered up.
Make sure the physical input jack used for the connection is the same as the one selected on the Video Control panel.
Composite selects the RCA jack, S-Video selects the 4-pin mini-DIN, and MXC selects the multimedia extension connector.
Scrambled Video
If your video display is scrambled or video is displayed in the Video Control Panel but not in the application window, try the following:
Verify that your NTSC/PAL setting is correct for the type of camera you have. (Videum AV/VO)
Verify that your video capture format is compatible with the application, see the documentation for the application.
Verify the recommended image sizes and capture formats for the application.
Try uncompressed capture by setting the compression to YUY2 or RGBT.
Exit the application and restart the application.
Speckled or Grainy Video
If your video display looks speckled or grainy, use the Windows Display control panel to adjust your display settings to view in High Color (16-bit) or True Color (24-bit).
Poor Video Capture Performance
If you are getting poor video capture performance, try using the Video Control Panel to set a smaller image size.
Error Messages
If you get the following error message, the drivers are not able to find the card:
Capture card not present
Verify that the card is seated in the chassis properly.
Audio Problems
This section provides solutions for the most common audio problems.
Audio Playback Problems
Use the information in this section to correct audio playback problems such as no sound or choppy sound.
No Sound
If you have no sound output, try the following:
Verify that your speakers are properly installed and the volume is turned up.
If the speakers require external power, be sure they are connected to a power source.
If you have another audio board, use the Multimedia control panel to set the audio playback to the Videum board. Then select the Use Preferred Devices Only checkbox.
Use the Videum Audio Control Panel to verify that the speakers are on, the volume is set, and the speakers are not set for mute.
Play a .WAV file by double clicking it to verify that the sound works.
Choppy Sound
If your sound output is not smooth, try closing other applications that may be using a lot of CPU time.
Audio Recording Issues
If you are having trouble recording and capturing audio, try the following:
Verify that the audio input cable is connected securely to the Videum board.
A mono audio source is only heard from the left speaker.
Use the Audio tab in the Properties dialog box selected from the Capture menu to verify that you have selected the correct audio source and recording levels.
Set the recording source levels close to the peak loudness, and try again.
