Using IP/TV Viewer

This chapter describes how to set up network installations of IP/TV Viewer and how to use IP/TV Viewer to view a sample on-demand or scheduled program.

Setting Up Network Installations of IP/TV Viewer

For information on doing the initial network installation, see "Network Installation" in the IP/TV Viewer User Guide.

You can modify IP/TV Viewer setup.ini file so that your users do not need a license key for network installations, and to point IP/TV Viewers toward the appropriate Control Server. The license key is located on IP/TV serial card for 50 Viewers. See the instructions below.

Modifying the setup.ini File

To enter the license key and Control Server host name in the setup.ini file, follow these steps:

Step 1   Open the setup.ini file.

Step 2   Under the [Cisco IP/TV Viewer] section, add the following entry:

Serial Number=<licensekey>

Installations done from the network will now automatically pick up the license key.

Step 3   Under the [Cisco IP/TV Viewer] section, modify the following entry:

GuideServer=<host name of Control Server>

Viewers will now be pointed toward the appropriate Control Server.

Viewing Scheduled and On-demand Programs

If you have defined a sample scheduled or on-demand program, follow these steps to view the program in the IP/TV Viewer:

Step 1   Open the IP/TV Viewer.

Step 2   In the Program Categories pane, double-click on the OnDemand Videos or Scheduled Programs category.

Step 3   Double-click on Sample Program.
