Traffic Generator Management Function

Traffic Generator Management Function

Definition

This management function may be used to check that the equipment and its links are working properly. It never clears or resets the virtual circuit, transmits no interrupts, and ignores received data, interrupts, and reset packets. It leads to the reset of the counter to zero if a reset packet is received.

Operating Principle

The set-up of a call with the Traffic Generator function results in the continuous generation of data packets, with or without echo, and the absorption of the data transmitted by the calling party until a clear is sent.

The packets sent may contain messages of two types:

The contents and distribution period of these packets depend on the ACO No. selected (see next paragraph).

Access

The syntax of the access code is:

DNIC ZO 99 D IS No PASSWORD ACO No (CR)

Note
IS No: 00 in ASCII mode
PASSWORD: Exists if it has been configured (GG by default)
ACO No: See Table 2-1

The message distribution period is the one defined in the configuration

The transmission of the messages is controlled by reception of the computer's internal acknowledge.

The message distribution period is equal to XX time 0.1s for the call.

Infinite time-out. messages are absorbed but not distributed (absorber).

The messages are distributed and displayed (mirror function).

Note The number of simultaneous accesses to the "traffic generator" function is limited to the number of generators configured in C3-R0. Any access request beyond this number is rejected.
