Network Trouble Management

Network Trouble Management

Functions

The FastPADmp can detect certain kinds of trouble or receive special packets transmitted by other network equipment that has detected trouble. In both cases, depending on the gravity of the trouble, it transmits, to both ends of the virtual circuit(s) concerned:

These packets contain two bytes that specify the cause of the error and a diagnostics.

Example:

Cause

= No. busy

Diagnostics

= no logical channel free.

Knowledge of clears, restarts and resets

There are two different ways to learn about the clears, restarts, and resets transmitted by a FastPADmp:

Display on the asynchronous terminal

When the FastPADmp transmits a clear, reset or restart to both ends of the virtual circuit, a message is displayed on the asynchronous terminals concerned.

This message may be more or less detailed, depending of the values assigned to X.3 parameter 6:

Recall of last three messages

The "outstanding events management" function may be used to recall the last three clear and/or reset messages in clear language.

The message displayed is in the following form:

- - - CAUSE: - - - DIAG: - - - FUN No. - - LC No. - -

Note FUNCTION No. = Line No. specified in class 1, recurrence 1.

Network trouble codes generated by a FastPADmp

Network trouble codes generated by equipment configured "private type" (C2R3P9 = 1)

Network trouble codes generated by equipment configured "public type" (C2R3P9 = 0)

Causes and diagnostics generated by the X.75 line (C2R3P9 = 2)
