Error Messages

Error Messages

This chapter describes error messages for Native Service Point used with NetView or NetMaster. It includes explanations of the error messages and actions you can take to resolve the error messages.

The error messages are presented in two sections:


Note Routine messages that appear when you enter a command are not listed in this appendix.

Error Messages for NetView Operators

This section provides error messages associated with the NetView version of Native Service Point. The error messages are organized in sections by Native Service Point commands and by error message numbers.

rtrcmd Command

Error Message    RTRM001 PF key not supported.

Explanation    Only PF keys shown at the bottom of the panel are supported. You pressed a key that is not supported.

Recommended Action    Review the available PF keys and press a PF key that is supported.

Error Message    RTRM002 You must exit your session with #RTRSPN or press PF9 to keep it.

Explanation    You pressed PF3 without exiting from your login session with the router.

Recommended Action    Enter exit and press PF3. Or, press PF9 if you want to maintain the session with the router and prevent anyone else from logging into the router.

Error Message    RTRM003 Cursor not on a valid line.

Explanation    The cursor was not at a valid input field.

Recommended Action    Use the TAB key to position the cursor except when requestin help or changing data.

Error Message    RTRM004 SPname must be entered.

Explanation    The SPname: field is empty.The rtrcmd command requires that this field contain a service point name of the router.

Recommended Action    Enter the service point name of the router.

Error Message    RTRM005 Service Point (router) #RTRSPN already managed by #000RT0n.

Explanation    The service point (router) is being managed by the identified user.

Recommended Action    If the operator has logged off from the router, use the rtroper SPname command to free the router for login by another operator.

Error Message    RTRM007 Router command is required.

Explanation    You pressed Enter without entering a command in the command input area.

Recommended Action    You must enter a command that is understood by the router.The minimum command that can be entered is : (a semi-colon).

Error Message    RTRM009 Enter PASSWORD.

Explanation    A password is required to access the service point.

Recommended Action    The password you enter must match the password specified in the router's configuration.

Error Message    RTRM010 There is no previous PANEL. Please PRESS another KEY.

Explanation    You pressed the PF7 when 7=BACK was not at the bottom of the panel.

Recommended Action    Press a PF key that is supported.

Error Message    RTRM011 There is no continuation Panel. Please PRESS another KEY.

Explanation    You pressed the PF8 key when 8=FWD was not at the bottom of the panel.

Recommended Action    Press a PF key that is supported.

Error Message    RTRM014 VTAM Error, #RTRSPN not responding. See the LOG.

Explanation    The service point is not available to VTAM.

Recommended Action    To display the VTAM status, enter the following command:
dis spname. The service point must be ACTIV for a RUNCMD to be routed to the service point.

Error Message    RTRM016 No Command to retrieve.

Explanation    You have already retrieved the last command in the retrieve queue. There are no more commands to be retrieved.

Recommended Action    None.

Error Message    RTRM018 Bad Return Code returned from RUNCMD. RETCODE=#RETCODE

Explanation    An error occurred with the RUNCMD.

Recommended Action    Contact NetView support for assistance with this error.

Error Message    RTRM019 LU 6.2 Session Failed &MSGSTR

Explanation    This message displays when there is an error in trying to send a RMTCMD to another NetView.

Recommended Action    &MSGSTR identifies the error.

Error Message    RTRM020 No NNT or LU6.2 Session.

Explanation    This message displays if a LU6.2 session cannot be established and a NNT session is unavailable for use. If RTRCMD cannot send a command to the target NetView, the RUNCMD failed and a ROUTE&DOMAIN command also failed.

Recommended Action   

Error Message    RTRM021 TIMEOUT-The WAIT operation used to collect data timed out.

Explanation    This message displays whenever the WAIT operation failed to obtain a response in the time specified in the TIMEOUT field.

Recommended Action   

Error Message    RTRM022 More data available. Enter Y to continue, N to terminate.

Explanation    This message displays when the router indicates that more output is available.

Recommended Action    Press Y to retrieve the data or N to terminate the last router command and display some of the data.

rtrmgr Command

Error Message    RTRM501 PF key not supported.

Explanation    Only PF keys shown at the bottom of the panel are supported. You pressed a key that is not supported.

Recommended Action    Review the available PF keys and press a PF key that is supported.

Error Message    RTRM510 There is no previous PANEL. Please PRESS another KEY.

Explanation    You pressed the PF7 when 7=BACK was not at the bottom of the panel.

Recommended Action    Press a PF key that is supported.

Error Message    RTRM511 There is no continuation Panel. Please PRESS another KEY.

Explanation    You pressed the PF8 key when 8=FWD was not at the bottom of the panel.

Recommended Action    Press a PF key that is supported.

Error Messages for NetMaster Version

This section provides error messages associated with the NetMaster version of Native Service Point. The error messages are organized in sections by Native Service Point commands and by error message numbers.
