Year 2000 Compliance

Cisco ViewRunner for Windows is a Y2K compliant application. However, Cisco ViewRunner for Windows relies on third party operating systems.

For comprehensive information regarding Microsoft Y2K issues and resources, refer to the Microsoft Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure and Resource Center at: http:\\www.microsoft.com\technet\year2k\product\product.htm.

Important Warning

If Power Management is enabled on your computer, you may want to disable this feature. It has been verified under Windows 95 that ViewRunner will eventually be prevented from communicating through the Ethernet port when power is enabled. With Power Management disabled, this does not occur.

In Windows 95, select the Power Icon in the Control Panel and uncheck the "Allow Windows to Manage power use on this computer" option.

ViewRunner System Files

The ViewRunner for Windows application maintains several system files that reside in the same folder launching ViewRunner for Windows. These system files include:

Release Definition File

The ViewRunner maintains a release definition file (RDF) which identifies the software that is compatible with each hardware module/revision for a given system release. The system controller (SC) and the ViewRunner use this file to check release compatibilities for software update downloads.

The RDF is named 9000-xxx-xx.RDF where "90900-xxx-xx" is the latest release of the system. The file is stored in the ViewRunner system folder and contains information about the software and hardware release of the Cisco 6100 components.

Troubleshooting

Please refer to the ViewRunner for Windows Provisioning and Operations Guide for specific troubleshooting and operational issues.
