Connector and Pinout Specifications

This appendix provides information about connectors and pinouts for a Direct Connect configuration of the Cisco 6100 with NI-2 system.

Cisco 6100 Chassis Connectors

This section describes the Cisco 6100 chassis connectors and pinouts for the following:

xDSL Connectors

The backplane of the chassis contains six Champ connectors which connect to the xTU-C twisted-pair subscriber data interface. This connection can be made by either of the following:

Figure C-1 shows connector pin locations for the xDSL Champ connectors. Pin locations are the same for all Champ connectors.

Note   You must screw all cables into the backplane and tie wrap Champ connectors (see "Cabling Guidelines" section).

Cisco 6100 Terminal Block Connector

Use the terminal block connector to wire the Cisco 6100 to the power source on the fuse and alarm panel. For more information on power connections, see the "Attach Cisco 6100 Power Connections" section.

The terminal block connectors will accept 12 to 18 American Wire Gauge (AWG) copper solid or stranded wire. Figure C-2 shows the Cisco 6100 with NI-2 system power terminal block.

Cisco 6120 Chassis Connectors

The backplane of the Cisco 6120 provides three sets of connectors:

Pin locations are the same for all Champ connectors on the Cisco 6120 (see Figure C-3).

Console and Auxiliary Ports

The console and auxiliary ports, which are two identical serial EIA/TIA-232 ports, use RJ-48 receptacle connectors on the NI-2 card faceplate. Table C-1 shows the pin assignments, and Figure C-4 shows an RJ-48 receptacle connector.

Ethernet Port

The Ethernet port, a 10BaseT interface with an RJ-48 receptacle connector, is on the NI-2 card faceplate. It is used to connect the Cisco 6100 to the management station, a Sun SPARCstation running Cisco DSL Manager (CDM) software. Table C-2 shows the pin assignments, and Figure C-5 shows an NI-2 card Ethernet connector.
