Planning for Quality of Service
Planning for Quality of Service
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to the process of ensuring that a voice over IP (VoIP) network is able to provide the end-user with the same type of high-quality voice transmissions as provided by traditional basic telephone service. You can find more information on QoS and VoIP in the Quality of Service for voice over IP document.
You can find guidelines for planning your solution network for quality of service (QoS) in the Cisco AVVID Network Infrastructure Enterprise Quality of Service Design document. We recommend that you use these guidelines to ensure QoS on the voice path in your Cisco EGW 2200 solution network.
The signaling protocols used in the Cisco EGW 2200 solution use an assured forwarding value of AF31 to ensure their compliance with the Cisco AVVID QoS guidelines defined in the document above.
