The Monitor Panel provides real time monitoring capabilities for Cisco AccessPath Manager (APM). The Monitor Panel allows you to display utilization and current line usage information and statistics for the following areas:
The Display screen provides a graphical overview of the selected stack or shelf. For selected stacks, the device bitmap, name, address, and current online status are displayed. For selected shelves, the CPU utilization and channel usage are displayed.
To view the Display screen:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf you want to display.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Display.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Display screen appears. (See Figure 6-1.)

Stack Display
The Display screen provides the following information for a selected stack:

Name
Case-sensitive, unique name for the shelf. The shelf name is the host name specified during APM configuration.

Device type of the shelf, which can be one of the following:

Cisco AS5300 Access Server Shelf
Cisco 2511 Console Management Shelf
Cisco 3640 Console Management Shelf

IP
Network management (SNMP) IP address for the shelf.
The Display screen provides the following information for a selected shelf:

Device type of the shelf (AS5200, 2511, 7206, or Cat5000).
SNMP IP Address
Network management (SNMP) IP address for the shelf.
Loopback IP Address
IP address of the loopback port.
IOS Version
Cisco IOS release running on the device. The Cisco IOS release will only be displayed for devices that were configured by APM. The release displayed is the one present at the time that the device was configured.
Number of active analog channels
Cisco AS5200 or Cisco AS5300 only. The number of active analog channels currently in use on the device.
Number of active ISDN1 channels
Cisco AS5200 or Cisco AS5300 only. The number of active ISDN channels currently in use on the device.
Shelf Status
ReachableIf the device has responded to the last SNMP poll request.
UnreachableIf the device did not respond to the last SNMP poll request.
1-minute CPU load
1-minute moving average of the CPU busy percentage. Both a histogram of current and previous poll cycles and the current value are displayed.
5-minute CPU load
5-minute moving average of the CPU busy percentage. Both a histogram of current and previous poll cycles and the current value are displayed.
Percent Utilization
Percentage of the available bandwidth that is currently utilized by the active analog/ISDN traffic.
The Shelf Status screen displays data on channel and modem status for the selected stack and its associated shelves. It provides two tables:
Channel Status tableSummarizes the DS0/B channel usage by shelf
Modem Status tableSummarizes the status of all modems by shelf
The tables also display the current status of the channels and modems with a legend describing the state as up or down.
To view stack or shelf status:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf for which you want to view statistics.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Shelf Status.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Shelf Status screen appears. (See Figure 6-2.)

#In use
Number of modems that are currently in use. An in use modem is a modem in one of the following states: connected, off hook, loopback, or download firmware.

Percentage of modems that are currently in use.
#Off
Number of modems that are currently held administratively offline.
%Off
Percentage of modems that are currently held administratively offline.
#Dead
Number of modems that are currently in the dead state. A dead modem is a modem with the state bad or download firmware failed.

Percentage of modems that are currently in the dead state.
#Reject
Number of modem calls that have been rejected since the device was last booted. This is the total of ISDN and analog calls.
Modem Status
The Modem Status screen provides a view into the current utilization of the available modem pool, on a stack or shelf basis. The current status of each modem is presented in color with a legend describing each displayed modem state.
To view modem status:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf for which you want to view modem statistics.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Modem Status.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Modem Status screen appears. (See Figure 6-3.)

Channel Status
The Channel Status screen provides a graphical representation of the selected stack or shelf with icons illustrating the current status of each channel in color. A legend describes each displayed modem state.
If the channel is operational, an icon will show the function of the channelmodem, ISDN, or V.110/V.120.
To view channel statistics:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf for which you want to view channel statistics.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Channel Status.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Channel Status screen appears. (See Figure 6-4.)

Line Statistics
The Line Statistics screen displays various line statistics for the DS1 line in the stack or shelf. This information includes the number of packets per second (PPS) and bits per second (BPS), and the number of analog and ISDN channels. The table also displays the current status of the lines with a legend describing the state as up or down.
To view the Line Statistics screen:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf for which you want to view line statistics.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Line Statistics.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Line Statistics screen appears. (See Figure 6-5.)

The Line Statistics screen provides the following information for the selected stack or shelf:

Throughput
The Throughput screen displays aggregate throughput totals for the selected stack or shelf.
Data provided includes:
Aggregate throughput across the stack or shelf for packets per second (PPS), bits per second (BPS), and packet drops.
Summaries of poll by poll trends for the percentage of maximum possible PPS and BPS actually in use.
To view throughput statistics:
Step 1 Click the name of the stack or shelf for which you want to view throughput statistics.
Step 2 Click Monitor.
Step 3 Click Throughput.
Step 4 Click Execute. The Throughput screen appears. (See Figure 6-6.)

Number of packets that were dropped on this stack or shelf between the current and previous polling intervals. The number of packet drops is the total of all DS1 interface inErrors, outDiscards, and outErrors.
PPS utilized
Graphical representation of the PPS value as it relates to the total possible PPS for this stack or shelf.
BPS utilized
Graphical representation of the BPS value as it relates to the total possible BPS for this stack or shelf.
