About This Guide

The objective of this document is to help you install and configure the Cisco User Control Point (UCP) software.

This guide was written for system administrators who use the Cisco UCP software to manage the UCP services that provide differentiated levels of service for users of corporate intranets, outsourced intranets, and extranets.

Convention Description

boldface text

Arguments and commands within user instructions or examples.

italicized text

Variables for which you supply a value; introduces new terminology or concepts; emphasizes something important; represents the title of a book or publication.

[keyword]

Optional keywords or arguments; also used to represent default responses to system prompts.

{x | y | z}

A choice of required keywords, separated by vertical bars. Select one.

screen font

Information displayed on the screen.

boldface screen font

Information you must enter.

Non-printing characters, such as passwords; also used to represent required user input.

Note

Means reader take note. Notes contain helpful suggestions or references to additional information and material.

Caution   This symbol means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in equipment damage or loss of data.
