Getting the Source
The origin site for squid is squid.nlanr.net. There are many other mirror sites around, and you might think about getting it from your local mirror or doing a search on an archie server. Once you have downloaded it (normally to /usr/local/squid/src/) you can uncompress and extract it with the following commands: gzip -cd squid-tar.gz-fil | tar xv or tar zxvf squid-tar.gz-fil

This will create a directory along the lines of /usr/local/squid/src/squid-1.1.13/
