The HP-UX operating system provides a number of European and
Asian locales, some supported via different codesets, for instance:
iso8859-1 (Western European), utf8 (European & Asian, including
Euro support) and iso8859-15 (Western European, including Euro support).
See Appendix A “Locale Names” for a listing
of the supported locales.
The HP-UX operating system also provides localized command
line messages, graphical user interfaces, and some online help volumes
in several languages.
HP-UX supports:
There are two ways these languages are supplied for your HP-UX system:
You may order
a specific language to be configured on your system at the HP factory.
You may choose to load all
(or individual) languages from the Common Desktop Environment (CDE)
bundle located on the OS media that is shipped with your system.
Please note that no CDE product bundles will be installed unless
explicitly selected at the time of the install.
This document describes how to configure your HP-UX system
for proper behavior for languages other than English.

| NOTE: The Common Desktop Environment bundle is available for
all languages on the OS media. No CDE product bundles will be loaded
unless explicitly selected at the time of the install or update.
The CDE bundle contains the CDE desktop software, messages and online
help for the language you select to install. In addition, the local
settings that were previously located in the CDE language bundle
are now located in the HPUXLocales bundle. The HPUXLocales bundle contains internationalization support for many
languages. This support includes date and time formats, currency,
sorting methods, and so on. You must make sure to select the appropriate
locale for your language to ensure the proper functioning of HP-UX
in non-English languages. You can select the appropriate locale
and deselect those that you do not need during install or update. |
