  1. Check to see what locales are currently installed on your system by typing:

    locale -a

Check to see what languages are installed on your system by typing:

    /usr/sbin/swlist -l fileset International

Refer to the locale listing in Appendix A “Locale Names” for a description of the locales.

  2. If the locale is already installed, go to the section “Managing the LANG Environment Variable”.

  3. If the locale is not installed, you will have to load it from the HPUXLocales bundle located on the OS media using the swinstall command.

  4. If the recommended OE bundle HPUXLocales is not installed on your system, your system may have been customized during installation. Please contact your system administrator to identify the recommended OE bundles that were deselected during installation. You may have to install additional recommended OE bundles that were deselected during installation. For example, the HPUXEssential bundle is a recommended OE bundle and must be installed on your system to properly display and print localized characters.

The language product “International” may be installed without installing the entire bundle HPUXLocales (through installing HPUXExtns-Jpn). In that case, the fileset International.PSPRINT would not be installed.
