X Window
screen and keyboards |
|
To use CDE, the Xserver must be running on a remote machine
on the network and the optional graphics card and keyboards must
be connected to the server. To properly input local characters without
limitations, HP recommends that you use a localized keyboard. Please
refer to the keymap_ed(1X11) and xmodmap(1) commands for help on using customizing non-localized keyboards.
Terminals |
|
To properly handle characters, terminals must be set for the
roman8 or iso8859-1 codeset. Most HP terminals handle the roman8
character set. However, support for the iso8859-1 character set
varies by terminal and emulation type. Terminal codeset configuration
is usually set via function keys. The actual procedure varies by
model. Please refer to your terminal documentation.
Printers
and Plotters |
|
Most HP printers and plotters can be configured via the front
panel to print using either the roman8 or iso8859-1 character sets. See your printer or plotter documentation
for detailed procedures.
Some printers also have local language fonts installed that
can be utilized by HP-UX. By choosing the right model files, HP-UX
can also print local language characters on printers that do not
support those characters natively.
For more information on the available model files that can
be used for different printers, see “Configuring Printers”.
