Overview

Overview

The installation of a Cisco MGX 8260 media gateway requires careful planning.

Physical installation encompasses unloading, moving, positioning, and securing the chassis and other peripheral components. Power feeds and a ground circuit must be attached. WAN and LAN lines are then connected to MGX 8260 components.

Following power up, MGX 8260 configuration settings must be edited to match site requirements. The initial database is then constructed so that test calls can be made. Finally, the customer and deployment team complete the acceptance testing process.

Prerequisites

Prior to beginning the installation process, the installation site should be prepared as described in "Preparing the Installation Site."
