About These Release Notes

Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM, a member of the Cisco Connection Family, is updated monthly. Known Anomalies

Bug ID Headline Comments/Description

CSCdp32274

Bug Description: Can't add IP Gateway address to MGX-8260

The IP address on the default gateway is currently not configurable on the MGX-8260. Hence, to establish a IP session with the MGX 8260, the adjacent router needs to be configured with proxy ARP.

CSCdr26307

Bug Description: BSC switchback causes call failures

At 20 cps, BSC switchover causes call drop due to resource out of sync.

CSCdr25446

Bug Description: tln task crashed when interogating

User telnet to the service card and issue an illegal command. The defensive mechanism did not cover this case. This causes the task to suspend. The suspended task does not have any affect on traffic. The capability to telnet to the service card has been provided only for engineering usage.

CSCdr00959

Bug Description: Load Run Call Failures - 401

Call Agent (VSC) and 8260 interaction problem. Problem arise with call rate 23 cps or higher. This usually is the end affect of a failed call or a stuck end point. Workaround: Use "mpcDelCalls" or "mpcDelEp" to clear the resource

CSCdp72042

Bug Description: SQA - call rate dropped with more session sets

Call drop with more session sets. VSC provisioning problem

CSCdp78628

Bug Description: failures (0.2%) when running path confirmation

Load box consistently showing a 0.2 to 0.5% failure (with other setups, Gateways, etc.). Root cause: Ameritec Load Box issue

Installing the Exhaust Plenum

The exhaust plenum is an MGX 8260 accessory that assures proper airflow through the chassis when other equipment is mounted above it. Although the plenum primarily controls airflow, it also protects the internal components from falling objects or other physical damage. You install the exhaust plenum over the top-most MGX 8260 in a one or two-chassis configuration; you don't need the plenum for a rack with three MGX 8260s.

To install the exhaust plenum, follow these steps:

Step 1   Place the plenum over the top MGX 8260 chassis in a one- or two-chassis configuration.

Step 2   Secure the plenum to the rack using the screws provided.

Obtaining Service and Support

For service and support for a product purchased from a reseller, contact the reseller. Resellers offer a wide variety of Cisco service and support programs, which are described in the section "Service and Support" in the information packet that shipped with your chassis.

Note   If you purchased your product from a reseller, you can access Cisco Connection On-line (CCO) as a guest. CCO is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Your reseller offers programs that include direct access to CCO's services.

For service and support for a product purchased directly from Cisco, use CCO.

Cisco Connection On-line

Cisco Connection On-line (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco's customers and business partners. CCO services include product information, product documentation, software updates, release notes, technical tips, the Bug navigator, configuration notes, brochures, descriptions of service offerings, and download access to public and authorized files.

CCO serves a wide variety of users through two interfaces that are updated and enhanced simultaneously: a character-based version and a multimedia version that resides on the World Wide Web (WWW). The character-based CCO supports Zmodem, Kermit, Xmodem, FTP, and Internet e-mail, and it is excellent for quick access to information over lower bandwidths. The WWW version of CCO provides richly formatted documents with photographs, figures, graphics, and video, as well as hyperlinks to related information.

You can access CCO in the following ways:

For a copy of CCO's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), contact cco-help@cisco.com. For additional information, contact cco-team@cisco.com.

Note   If you are a network administrator and need personal technical assistance with a Cisco product that is under warranty or covered by a maintenance contract, contact Cisco's Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 800 553-2447, 408 526-7209, or tac@cisco.com. To obtain general information about Cisco Systems, Cisco products, or upgrades, contact 800 553-6387, 408 526-7208, or cs-rep@cisco.com.
