Obtaining Technical Information

Many of the references cited in this list can be obtained from book stores or ordered directly from the publisher or company that produced the reference. In the world of data communications, however, there are numerous standards that are kept by various companies and agencies. This section provides some tips on obtaining this type of information.

Obtaining RFCs

Information about the Internet suite of protocols are contained in documents called Requests for Comments, or RFCs. These documents are contained in the Defense Data Network Information Center (NIC). You can obtain copies in either printed or electronic form. You may contact the NIC in these ways:
