Feature Support

This appendix lists IOS Release 10.2 features that currently are supported on specific router platforms.

Refer to your Release 10.2 router products release notes for the most up-to-date information about supported platforms and features, obsoleted features, and features not supported on specific platforms.

Supported Platforms and Features

IOS Release 10.2 is supported on the following router platforms:

IOS Release 10.2 is also supported on the Cisco 1000 LAN Extender. The Cisco LAN Extender is a two-port chassis that connects a remote site, which can have one Ethernet network, to a core router in a central site. The connection between the LAN extender and the core router is made via a short-distance leased serial line, typically a 56-kbps or 64-kbps line, but possibly a T1/E1 line. The core router configures the LAN Extender as one of its logical interfaces, configures the serial interface that connects it to the LAN Extender, and binds the LAN Extender logical interface to the router's serial interface.

The new Cisco 2509, Cisco 2510, Cisco 2511, and Cisco 2512 platforms, which can be configured as routers or as communication servers, share the same features but differ in the number of available Ethernet, Token Ring, synchronous, and asynchronous interfaces.
