This document describes the new features, limitations, and caveats for Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager Release 3.1(2c). Use this document in conjunction with documents listed in the "Related Documentation" section.

All release notes may have been updated with new information on restrictions and caveats. Introduction
The Cisco Fabric Manager provides an alternative to the command-line interface (CLI) for most switch configuration commands. Fabric Manager provides powerful Fibre Channel troubleshooting tools. These in-depth health and configuration analysis capabilities leverage unique MDS 9000 switch capabilities: Fibre Channel Ping and Traceroute.

Upgrading Your Version of Cisco Fabric Manager
To upgrade your version of Cisco Fabric Manager, or install Fabric Manager for the first time, follow these steps:

Minimum Hardware Requirements
For a PC running Fabric Manager Server on large fabrics (1000 or more end devices), we recommend you use a Dual Core/Dual CPU high-speed system with 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of free disk space.
New Features in Cisco MDS Fabric Manager Release 3.1(2c)
This section describes the new features introduced in Cisco Fabric Manager Release 3.1(2c).
Install Option to Use Oracle Express Database with Cisco Fabric Manager
As of Cisco SAN-OS Release 3.1(2b), you can install Oracle Express as the database for use with Cisco Fabric Manager. We recommend the Oracle Express database option for all users who are running Performance Manager on large fabrics (1,000 or more end devices).

User Interface Changes in Fabric Manager
The Deactivate button has been moved. Deactivate is now a menu choice on a popup menu that is accessible from the Edit Local Full Zone Database window.
Maximum Number of Flows Increased
As on Cisco Fabric Manager Release 3.1(2c), the Flow Creation wizard has increased the maximum number of flows per switch from 2048 to 10000.
Limitations and Restrictions
There are no limitations and restrictions for Cisco Fabric Manager Release 3.1(2c).
Caveats

Symptom: Using unknown usernames or passwords in Cisco Fabric Manager can result in multiple Access Control Server (ACS) accesses and can lock users out of the fabric, if your ACS policy disables users when multiple incorrect passwords are used in succession.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
•
Symptom: Installation of the Oracle Express database fails if you are running Microsoft Windows 2000 and using the Hypersonic SQL database with Cisco Fabric Manager.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
