Cisco UGM communicates with managed devices through SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). You must configure each network device for SNMP before it can be managed by Cisco UGM. You must configure:
You must configure SNMP for the following devices:
Step 1 To access the device, enter:
telnet device IP address
Where device IP address is the IP address of the device on which you are configuring SNMP.
Step 2 To enter the enable mode, type:
AS5xxx> enable
Step 3 To enter the configuration mode, type:
AS5xxx# configure terminal
Step 4 To configure SNMP on the device, enter these commands:
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server community ReadOnlyCommunityString RO
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server community ReadWriteCommunityString RW
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server enable traps entity
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server enable traps envmon
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server trap-source interface name
AS5xxx (config)# snmp-server host server IP address

Note The community strings specified for this device must match the community
strings specified when the Cisco UGM device was deployed and discovered. If you change the community string values on the device, you must make the corresponding changes in the Cisco UGM Object Configuration dialog box. (Refer to the Cisco Universal Gateway Manager User Guide.) |
