SNMP Management

TrueView Catalyst 1600 Manager manages Catalyst 1600 devices using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

The Catalyst 1600 supports industry-standard Management Information Bases (MIBs) as well as two MIBs that are specifically designed for use with the Catalyst 1600.

The Catalyst 1600 supports the following MIBs:

• MIB-II (RFC1213)

• IEEE 802.5 Token Ring MIB (RFC1231, 1239)

• Definitions for Managed Objects for Bridges (RFC1493)

• Definitions for Managed Objects for Source Routing Bridges (RFC1525)

• Cisco Catalyst 1600 Basic MIB

• Cisco Catalyst 1600 Device Specific MIB

• FDDI MIB (RFC1512)

If you plan to use a SNMP management application to access the MIBs and have specified a password for the Catalyst 1600, before editing any variables set the SNMP community string to match the password.
