About This Guide

This preface describes who should read Using the User Registration Tool, and its document conventions.

The preface covers these topics:

Who Should Read This Publication

To use the User Registration Tool (URT) application, you should have a basic understanding of network management and the configuration of your network. You should know how to configure and manage VLANs using either the switch's (and router's) command line or the CWSI Campus component of CiscoWorks2000.

If you are using URT with Microsoft Networking, you should understand how to add users to the NT domain controller's Security Accounts Manager (SAM) database. If you are using URT with Novell NetWare, you should understand basic NetWare administration, including how to add users to the network.

Are You New to Windows NT Networking?

This publication cannot cover all of the information you need to manage a Windows NT network. If you are new to Windows NT networking, Cisco recommends that you read one of the many books available for the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) Windows NT Server 4.0 in the Enterprise exam. You might also find books for the other MCSE exams to be helpful, as well as the Microsoft product documentation.

Are You New to Novell NetWare Networking?

This publication cannot cover all of the information you need to manage a Novell NetWare network. If you are new to NetWare networking, Cisco recommends that you read one of the many books available for the NetWare 5 CNA (Certified Novell Administrator) exam, or other books about NetWare, including the Novell product documentation.

Online Help and Document Conventions

Therefore, it might be more current than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Documentation CD-ROM, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. The CD-ROM package is available as a single package or as an annual subscription. You can also access Cisco documentation on the World Wide Web at http://www.cisco.com, http://www-china.cisco.com, or http://www-europe.cisco.com.

If you are reading Cisco product documentation on the World Wide Web, you can submit comments electronically. Click Feedback in the toolbar and select Documentation. After you complete the form, click Submit to send it to Cisco. We appreciate your comments.
