Description

CVDM-WebVPNSM is an embedded device manager for setup, configuration, and monitoring of the WebVPN Services Module (WebVPNSM). CVDM-WebVPNSM allows you to manage your WebVPNSM (part number WS-SVC-WEBVPN-K9) by providing functions for configuring network, certificate, virtual gateway, and virtual context settings. CVDM-WebVPNSM makes such configuration easier by allowing you to perform all these operations using one graphical user interface (GUI) tool.

You use wizards and dialog boxes to do your configurations; CVDM-WebVPNSM then designs best-practice command line interface (CLI) configurations based on your GUI configurations. You can view the CLI configurations generated by CVDM-WebVPNSM and deploy them to the device immediately, deliver them at a later time, or save them for future editing.

Known Problems

Installation and launching problems with CVDM-WebVPNSM can occur because of known problems with:

Lack of available vty lines

Netscape, Firefox, and Mozilla installation support for the Java plug-in

Lack of SSH or Telnet access

Lack of flash: space

To avoid problems, please do the following:

Ensure that at least two vty lines are available. CVDM-WebVPNSM will not launch if all Telnet lines are being used. Instead, you will see either a "Page cannot be displayed" or "Application exiting" error.

Manually download the Java plug-in if you do not have Java Plug-in 1.4.2_06, or use Internet Explorer to download the Java plug-in automatically. Sometimes Netscape, Firefox, and Mozilla do not prompt you to download the Java plug-in.

If there is not enough space in flash:, back up your files on the Flash memory card by copying them to an external server and then delete them from the Flash memory card.

Table 2 describes problems known to exist in this release.

Note To obtain more information about known problems, access the Cisco Software Bug Toolkit at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/home.pl. (You will be prompted to log into Cisco.com.)

Table 2 Known Problems in CVDM-WebVPNSM

Bug ID
Summary
Explanation

None.

Online help does not work properly when popup blocking is enabled on a client machine.

To avoid this problem, disable popup blocking before accessing the online help.

CSCee48552

Some fields look compressed in Solaris.

When using Mozilla on a Solaris system, some of the dialog boxes may appear squeezed if the font is set to a small size.

To work around this problem:

1. Go to Tools > Desktop Controls > Font Style Manager.

2. Increase the font size and restart the Workspace Manager.

A medium-sized font should work in most cases.

CSCsa15820

Sometimes, when using Internet Explorer on a Windows system, CVDM-WebVPNSM cannot be launched after installing the Java plug-in.

To work around this problem, remove the proxy setting in the browser.

CSCsa15984

CVDM-WebVPNSM is not launched if a nondefault password prompt is configured on a device.

CVDM-WebVPNSM works on devices that have default prompts. If you change the default password prompt for a device using CLI commands, then CVDM-WebVPNSM cannot be launched.

CSCsa50843

CVDM-WebVPNSM does not launch on a Windows 2000 machine with multiple versions of the Java Plug-in installed.

The problem occurs on machine with the following configuration:

Operating system—Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4

Java Plug-in versions installed—1.4.2_04 and 1.4.2_06

Active browser—Netscape 7.1, Internet Explorer 6.0 with SP1, Firefox 1.0

To work around this problem, uninstall Java Plug-in 1.4.2_04.

CSCsa50848

Cannot launch CVDM-WebVPNSM in Internet Explorer running on a Windows 2000 machine when Java Plug-ins 1.4.2_06 and 1.5 are installed.

Problem occurs on machine with the following configuration:

Operating System—Windows 2000 Professional with SP4

Java Plug-in versions installed—1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_06, and 1.5

Active Browser—Internet Explorer 6.0 with SP1

To launch CVDM-WebVPNSM with Internet Explorer, you must first uninstall Java Plug-in 1.5.

CSCsa54308

When CVDM-WebVPNSM is launched with unsupported plug-in, it does not point to the correct download location of the supported Java Plug-in (1.4.2_06).

When CVDM-WebVPNSM is launched with unsupported plug-in:

Netscape 7.1 (Windows 2000) does not point to the download location of the Java Plug-in 1.4.2_06. The splash screen appears, but no error message is displayed.

Firefox 1.0 (Windows 2000) begins installing Java Plug-in 1.5.

Mozilla 1.7.3 (Solaris 2.8 and 2.9) does not point to the download location of the Java Plug-in 1.4.2_06.

To work around this problem, install Java Plug-in 1.4.2_06 manually.

CSCsa11904

Help does not work when a proxy is configured for the browser.

This problem occurs if you configured the browser to use an HTTP proxy.

To work around this problem, exclude 127.0.0.1 (localhost) from being proxied.

CSCsa12102

When TACACS+ command authorization is turned on in the device configuration, a NullPointerException is seen.

TACACS authorization is not supported. Turn off the TACACS+ command authorization for users who will be using CVDM-WebVPNSM.

CSCsa20728

Sometimes a new window is not displayed in the foreground on Windows 2000 and Windows XP clients.

When a new window is opened, it does not appear in the foreground. However, the taskbar button that corresponds to the browser window flashes.

To work around this problem:

1. Set the following Windows registry entry to 0 (zero):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\ Desktop\ForegroundLockTimeout

2. Reboot the machine.

CSCsb04063

The selector does not display lines joining tree elements.

With any page that shows the selector active, click one of the tree elements in the selector to expand it. If you are running CVDM-WebVPNSM on a client running Windows XP, the lines which join tree elements are not displayed.

Since this problem is caused by Windows XP functionality, this bug cannot be fixed.

Note The lines joining tree elements are displayed by Windows 2000 clients.

CSCsb22876

IP address containing 12 digits is not fully displayed.

Problem observed only on Windows XP clients.

In any field that requires an IP address, enter an address that contains 12 digits (for example, 100.100.100.100). After entering the address, you will not be able to view its first digit.

To work around this problem, clear the field and reenter the appropriate IP address.

CSCsa98723/ CSCsb01812

Table entry does not remain selected when moving between tree elements.

To reproduce the problem:

1. From the Virtual Contexts page selector, expand the tree for a virtual context.

2. Select either URLs, NBNS Lists, or Port Forwards.

3. From either the URL Lists, NBNS Lists, or Port Forward Lists pane, select a table entry.

4. Select any other tree element and then click the one you previously selected.

The table entry you selected is no longer the active selection. Instead, the first table entry is selected.

To work around this problem, reselect the appropriate table entry.

CSCsb29157

Unable to delete an NBNS list.

To reproduce the problem:

1. From the Virtual Contexts page selector, expand the tree for a virtual context.

2. Select NBNS Lists.

3. From the NBNS Lists pane, select a table entry.

4. Click Delete.

5. From the task bar, click Deliver.

An error message is displayed and the selected NBNS list is not deleted.

This problem is caused by a device bug.

CSCsa92849

Certificate Trustpoint Setup wizard does not detect a %PKI-6-CERTIFSSEND failure.

After attempting to generate a CSR using TFTP, the operation fails and the following message is logged:

*<date>: %PKI-6-CERTIFSSEND: Could not send Certificate enrollment request to file system.

However, the wizard does not detect that a failure has occurred and proceeds.

There is no workaround.

CSCsb18838

Imported certificates cannot be exported.

SSL certificates imported using the certificate import wizard cannot be exported using the certificate export wizard.

There is no workaround.

Note The problem is caused by a Cisco IOS bug (CSCei40589).

CSCsb25687

Certificate and keypair export using the Secure Copy Protocol (SCP) takes a few minutes.

When using the bulk export wizard to export certificates to a remote system or redundant WebVPNSM, it takes anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes for a single Trustpoint when the SCP option is selected. A similar problem occurs when using the key pair export wizard to export key pairs to a remote system, again with the SCP option selected.

There is no workaround.

Note This problem is caused by another bug (CSCsb09985).

CSCsb19517

Error occurs during the delivery of a Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) URL to the device.

Specifying a hostname for an SCEP URL will result in an error when:

DNS servers are not configured on the WebVPNSM or the configured DNS servers are down.

The DNS query timeout value is greater than two minutes

The following message is displayed:

Error during delivery. Click Close to quit the application or view CLI to view the configuration.

To work around this problem, specify IP addresses instead of hostnames for the SCEP URL.

CSCsb41020

Using SSHv2, private key export sometimes fails when the SCP option is selected in the key pair export wizard.

To work around this problem, use SSHv1 instead of SSHv2.

CSCsb17148

Unable to import key pairs and certificates using SSHv2 and SCP.

To work around this problem, use either SSHv1 or a file transfer protocol other than SCP.

CSCsb45190

Able to configure new authentication list when maximum number of lists has already been created.

To reproduce the problem, with eight authentication lists already created, configure the settings for another list and then click Deliver from the task bar. An error message appears, indicating that the operation failed.

Since eight is the maximum number of authentication lists that can be configured in CVDM-WebVPNSM, you should not be able to enter the settings for a ninth list.

There is no workaround.

Note This limit on authentication lists also applies to the WebVPNSM.

CSCsb29514

Deletion of a VRF instance does not remove its association with a virtual context.

To reproduce the problem:

1. Create a virtual context and associate a VRF instance with this context.

2. From the VRF Instances section of the Global Settings page, select the VRF instance you associated with the new virtual context and click Delete.

3. From the task bar, click Deliver.

Although the VRF instance has been deleted, the Virtual Contexts page indicates that the instance is still associated with the virtual context.

To work around the problem, view the operational status for the virtual context. The value invalid vrf indicates that the VRF instance has been deleted.

CSCsb18801

Active tab changes after making changes in Edit Group Policy dialog box.

To reproduce the problem:

1. Select a group policy from the Virtual Contexts page selector.

2. Select either the Tunnel or Advanced Tunnel tab.

3. Click Edit... to launch the Edit Group Policy dialog box.

4. Make any necessary changes and then click OK.

The Clientless tab, and not the Tunnel or Advanced Tunnel tab, is now active.

To work around this problem, reselect the appropriate tab.

CSCsb41955

CLI is not generated for the IP address of a gateway after an interface IP address or subnet mask is modified.

After you modify either the IP address or subnet mask for an interface, the IP address configured for the associated gateway is cleared. As a result, the CLI that is generated and delivered to the module does not reflect the appropriate address for that gateway.

To work around the problem:

1. Make the necessary changes to an interface IP address or subnet mask and deliver the generated CLI to the module.

2. Reenter the IP address of the gateway and again deliver the generated CLI to the module.

CSCsb35587

Unable to select group radius option when configuring a RADIUS authentication method list.

To reproduce the problem:

1. From the Configure Authentication and NAT page of the WebVPNSM Service Setup wizard, select the Configure a RADIUS Authentication Method List radio button.

2. Click and then select the Select an Existing Server Group option.

The group radius option is not listed in the Select a Server Group dialog box.

To make this option available in the wizard, you must first create a new authentication list and configure the group radius authentication method for that list. You can do so from the Authentication Lists section of the Global Settings page.

CSCsb13050/ CSCsb13085/ CSCsb13086

No error message is displayed when object names contain certain characters.

CVDM-WebVPNSM should, but does not, display an error message when you specify an object name (such as for a server group or TCP policy) that contains the following characters:

back slash (\)

forward slash (/)

comma (,)

single quotes (`)

double quotes (")

It is recommended that you do not use these characters in object names.
