Installation Checklist
for CiscoWorks Blue
Maps and SNA View
for UNIX

To ensure complete installation of the CiscoWorks Blue products, use the following steps and check the following check boxes as you complete each step:




Verify System Requirements




To verify your UNIX workstation meets the minimum hardware and software requirements, see Chapter 2 in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Installation and Administration Guide.




To verify your mainframe meets the minimum hardware and software requirements, see Chapter 2 in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Mainframe and Installation Guide.




Collect the Data Required to Install CiscoWorks Blue




You need to collect some data before you install CiscoWorks Blue, such as location of key programs and identification of ports to be used. For information on this data, see Chapter 2 in the
CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Mainframe and Installation Guide.




Install the Mainframe Software




For information on how to install the mainframe software, see Chapter 2 in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Mainframe Installation Guide.




Set the X-windows DISPLAY Variable




X-windows based user interfaces will start at the end of workstation installation. Set the DISPLAY variable before you start the installation.




Install CiscoWorks Blue on the Workstation




Use the following command to start the setup procedure:

setup.sh

Apply the CiscoWorks Blue Licenses




Enter licenses from separate license sheets, press Enter if you are not licensed for both Maps and SNA View. For information on how to apply the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View licenses, see Chapter 5 in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Installation and Administration Guide




Configure CiscoWorks Blue




The installation script automatically starts the configuration script. If it does not or if you want to reconfigure after installation, see "Configuring CiscoWorks Blue after Installation" in Chapter 5 of the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Installation and Administration Guide.




Populate the Database with Router Data




To populate the database with router data, you must first discover the routers. The discovery process discovers and records every device in the network that supports any of the supported protocols. To discover the network devices, use one of the following applications:




For information on how to discover network devices, follow the instructions in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Installation and Administration Guide. Use one of the following procedures in Chapter 10:




Run Verify and then Resolve Errors




After you finish installing and configuring CiscoWorks Blue and discovering routers for the database, you can use the verification program to ensure that all went successfully. Click Verify on the Administration window or enter the following commands:

    cd /opt/CSCOcb/bin ./cwb verify




Use the Web Interface




Type the URL of the CiscoWorks Blue web server:

http://host_name[:port_number]

Where host_name is the name of the host with the CiscoWorks Blue web server. The port_number is optional if you use port 80. For example, if your host name is host.cisco.com, and you use port 8080, you would type: http://host.cisco.com:8080

Use Administration and Configuration to Perform Future Configuration Changes

To perform future configuration changes, such as adding new routers or host connections, see Chapter 5, "Installing and Configuring
CiscoWorks Blue," and Chapter 10, "Using the Administration Application." in the following chapters in the CiscoWorks Blue Maps and SNA View Installation and Administration Guide.

Congratulations

Installation and configuration are complete. Use your local or remote Web browser as the primary interface to use this product. All required services and processes automatically starts every time the machine reboots.
