Changes to the Release Notes
This section documents supplemental changes that have been added to the Release Notes for Cisco EdgeCraft Release 2.2 since the production of the Cisco Edge Craft Software CD for Release 2.2. No changes have been added to the release notes for Release 2.2.
Caveats
Review the notes listed below before deploying the Cisco Edge Craft. Caveats with tracking numbers are known system limitations that are scheduled to be addressed in a subsequent release. Caveats without tracking numbers are provided to point out procedural or situational considerations when deploying the product.
CSCeg61416
VT100 Terminal Blocks TFTP Server Port and SNMP Traps. If Cisco Edge Craft is started and the VT100 terminal is started from the login window an exit from Cisco Edge Craft (directly from login or after connect to element with the VT100 terminal running) will cause an occupied TFTP-port. When Cisco Edge Craft is started again, the TFTP server does not function.
Workaround:
Shut down the VT100 terminal before starting Cisco Edge Craft again.
CSCeg61421
Adding Route on Interface with Down Status. Adding default route using the Management Tree in the IP/iproute table, fails.
Workaround:
Make sure the interface has status up before adding a route.
CSCeg61604
The MCN wizard does not support IP un-numbered configuration in current release.
Workaround:
Since this is a strategic choice for IP configuration and planning of MCN, this needs to be set in ONSCLI. After ONSCLI set-up, select ManagementInterfaces in the Management Tree and use attributes available instead.
CSCeg61616
Firewall Considerations for Cisco Edge Craft vs. NEs. Please consider the following details related to
firewalls.
Workaround:
Configuration management:
•SNMP SET/GET - UDP 161
•Telnet (ONSCLI) - TCP 23
•Bulk Transfer - default TCP range 4502-4510 (editable range and configurable to either True or False. If False normal SNMP GET operations will be used.)
•File: res/config/Bulktransfer.env.xml.
- <bulktransfer>
- <enabled value="true"/>
- <compress value="true"/>
- <lowerlimit value="4500"/>
- <upperlimit value="4510"/>
- </bulktransfer>
Fault management:
•SNMP traps - UDP 162
Maintenance:
•TFTP (software download and config upload)- UDP 69
•Time protocol (RFC868) - UDP 37
CSCeg61634
Cbklm Editor Validation. Due to lack of validation in the Cbklm editor, it is possible to create an invalid cross-connection. For example, AU-4 XC in the VC-12 panel. An error message is displayed when saving.
Workaround:
None.
CSCeg61638
Mobile Radeon 7500 GFX Chip. When Cisco Edge Craft/Installation is run as the single java application on the system and the application is closed, this may cause a blue screen on computers with the mobile radeon 7500 gfx chip.
Workaround:
Please update the driver for the chip and/or reference Sun BugParade #4713003.
CSCeg61640 Structuring Wizard Validation
The Structuring wizard allows an operator to set a structure not applicable for ONS 15302 2.0.0 without new GFP WAN module. To avoid this unnecessary "Unsuccessful operation" consider removing the option for accessing the wizard when there are no GFP WAN module present. The same applies when there is no WAN module present at all.
Workaround:
None.
CSCsd55978
Invalid port settings in WAN to SDH GUI - Manual refresh needed
This issue can occur when the user is working with the WAN to SDH GUI. When the WAN to SDH GUI is started, it will scan the NE for port settings. These settings contain information about concatenation, rate, lcas etc. When the user selects another ethernet port and opens the WAN to SDH GUI from the pop-up menu (without closing the WAN to SDH GUI), the port settings will not be read again. This means that if the user changes port settings for an ethernet port and then opens the WAN to SDH GUI from the pop-up menu, it may have invalid port settings.
Workaround
A refresh of the WAN to SDH GUI will make the application read the port settings again, and the correct data will be read. This issue does not occur if you close the WAN to SDH GUI before you change the port settings.
CSCsd55982
AlarmTrace and Notification History use overlay info.
Be aware that the Alarm Trace and the Notification History can show incorrect information due to the use of overlay information.
If an alarm is raised for a slot object, this will be tagged with information about the module/mode provisioned for this slot. This will be correct for the current alarm window.
If this slot is re-provisioned, the information about the module/mode will change. This change will also be visible in the historical alarms in Alarm Trace and Notification History. This is not correct.
Workaround
Planned fix is to remove the state dependent information from the lists that shows historical alarms. No work-around in this release.
CSCsd55987
Value in A column not reset when WAN to SDH mapping is deleted. (ONS15302)
When the WAN to SDH mapping is deleted, the value in the A column is not reset to its default value. Value will be correct after a refresh.
Workaround
The workaround is to refresh the view.
CSCsd55993
Cisco Edge Craft performance issue on computers with specific power-settings. Some laptop computers might have power settings that will reduce the graphical performance when running on battery. This can cause rendering problems in Cisco Edge Craft.
Workaround
To avoid this issue, change the settings on the computer, so the graphical performance is not reduced when running on battery.
Another workaround is to add these properties in the lax file.
# SUN.JAVA2D.DDOFFSCREEN - This flag disables the use of DirectDraw and Direct3D for offscreen images.
sun.java2d.ddoffscreen=false
# SUN.JAVA2D.D3D - This forcibly disables the use of Direct3D and avoids any Direct3D-specific problems.
Resolved Caveats for Release 2.2
This section highlights the resolved caveats for Release 2.2.
CSCeg61599
Cisco Edge Craft Process Not Terminated from Login Screen. If Cisco Edge Craft is started and no community string is entered but Logon is pressed, the client will hang for a while before reporting not able to connect. If the user during this presses the X in the upper right corner, the client seems to be closed, but it is actually not (see TaskManager). This issue is resolved in Release 2.2.
CSCeg61608
The commissioning wizard does not include new alarm configuration options applicable for ONS 15305 2.0. This issue is resolved in Release 2.2.
CSCeg61629
Alarms on AU4 Removed when Restructuring. The issue occurred when restructuring an SDH port on the AUG1 level. If the port is restructured from "au4ToCrossConnect" to "tug3x3", or from "tug3x3" to "au4ToCrossConnect", active alarms on the AU4 managed object are cleared from the active alarm list. This issue is resolved in Release 2.2.
CSCeg61633
WAN to SDH GUI - LCAS Channel Status. Setting LcasChannelStatus when running 'nolcas'.
CSCeg61645
Software download GUI misinforms the operator when downloading software to ONS 15305. Quite immediately after download of the Network Release package have been triggered from the Software Download GUI, the status bar states "flashing". This is not correct, as the TFTP transfer has just begun. When downloading software/firmware to the ONS15305, this will be a multiple transfer operation, sending one file at the time, until all files enclosed in Network Release zip-file have been downloaded. The flashing process starts when all files have been stored in Compact Flash.
CSCeg61649
Wrong presentation of attributes for WAN ports for the S1.1-8-LC module. The nature of all bridge ports on Ethernet modules is the same and is operational from the Ethernet switch, where they all can be seen as LAN-ports. However, the WAN-ports interfacing the Ethernet over SDH (EoS) mapper does not support other than full duplex 100Mbit/s operation for Ethernet traffic as they are connected to the EoS circuit. The Ethernet WAN-port presentation of attributes incorrectly allows the operator to change the following attributes: "SpeedAdminMode", "DuplexAdminMode" and "AutoNegotiationMode". Editing these attributes for WAN-ports may lead to low throughput. This issue is resolved in Release 2.2.
New Features and Functionality
This section highlights new features and functionality for Release 2.2. For an overview of features of the Cisco EdgeCraft, consult the Cisco EdgeCraft Software Guide, Release 2.0.
•Trap Distributor - makes it possible to run more than one application instance on the same computer.
