Switch Software Requirement

To use the GigaStack GBIC with a Catalyst 3500 XL switch or 2900 XL modular switch, all switches must be running IOS Release 12.0(5.1)XP or later. We recommend that you upgrade your switches to IOS Release 12.0(5)XU, because this release supports redundant loop configurations.

For more information about the support and function of redundant loop configurations, see the Catalyst GigaStack Gigabit Interface Converter Hardware Installation Guide. For software upgrade procedures, see the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 12.0(5)XU.

Catalyst 3500 and Catalyst 2900 XL Software Caveats

For a list of Catalyst 3500 and Catalyst 2900 software caveats, refer to the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 12.0(5)XU.
