This guide presents an overview of the services provided by the Cisco DNS/DHCP Manager (CDDM) and the Cisco Server Suite 1000 (CSS1000) and provides guidelines to help you decide how to install and configure the CDDM and CSS1000. The Cisco Server Suite CD-ROM contains both products.
Be sure to read this guide before installing the CDDM or CSS1000. After reading this guide, please read the Cisco Server Suite Release Notes and Cisco Server Suite Installation and Basic Configuration Guide, which are supplied online in HTML, PostScript, and PDF format. For details on viewing and printing the online documentation, see "Viewing and Printing Online Documentation".
This guide cannot describe all of the intricacies of the Domain Name System (DNS) or the DHCP and BootP protocols. For information on DNS, Cisco recommends the book DNS and BIND by Paul Albitz and Cricket Liu (published by O'Reilly and Associates, ISBN 1-56592-010-4). For information on BootP, Cisco recommends RFC-951, RFC-1533, RFC-1534, and RFC-1542. For information on DHCP, Cisco recommends RFC-1541.

CDDM and Cisco Server Suite 1000 documentation is available online in HTML, PDF, and PostScript formats.
To view the HTML version of the online documentation, start your web browser and open the following file, which is located on the Cisco Server Suite CD-ROM.

where mount_point is the mount point on which you have mounted the Cisco Server Suite CD-ROM.
After you have installed the CDDM or Cisco Server Suite 1000, you can access the HTML documentation in the doc/html subdirectory of the installation directory.
The Netscape web browser is included with the CDDM and Cisco Server Suite 1000. You may need to have Motif installed on your system to run Netscape. Once you have installed the software, you can start Netscape with the command:
install_dir/MultiNet/bin/netscapewhere install_dir is the directory in which you installed the CDDM software.
The online documentation is also supplied in PDF format. To view the PDF version of the documentation, start Adobe PDF Reader, and view the following files, located on the CD-ROM.

Cisco documentation and additional literature are available on a CD-ROM called Cisco Connection Documentation, Enterprise Series, which ships with your Cisco chassis. The CD is updated and shipped monthly, so it might be more up to date than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Cisco Connection Documentation, Enterprise Series CD, contact your local sales representative or call Customer Service. The CD is available both as a single CD and as an annual subscription. You can also access Cisco technical documentation on the World Wide Web URL http://www.cisco.com.
