ViewRunner for HP OpenView Upgrade Installation Notes, Release 3.2(3)

ViewRunner for HP OpenView Upgrade Installation Notes, Release 3.2(3)

March 25, 2002

This document explains how to install the patch that addresses DDTS problem number CSCdv87518. Installation of this upgrade is necessary to increase the speed of trap processing for DSLAMs that are using inband management. Rather than query the Oracle database for the communication address that is needed to process the trap, the communication address information is now cached with the vrAlarmFormatter.

This document also includes installation instructions for the previous patch that was released in relation to DDTS problem number CSCdt94245. Installation of this upgrade is necessary because the vrAlarmFormatter size increases aggressively when the network receives traps during the time the server is starting up.

Note   You must install vr4hpov-32-patch2 before you install vr4hpov-32-patch3. If you previously installed patch 2, you can go ahead and install patch 3.

Both of these patches are for customers who installed ViewRunner for HP OpenView Release 3.2(0) and upgraded from a previous release of ViewRunner, that is, Release 3.1(x). You must run each patch after you have installed ViewRunner 3.2. Before you install a patch, stop ViewRunner server and client applications.

Note   Neither patch contains new features.
