This specification details the mechanical and electrical characteristics of the easy digital subcriber line (EZ-DSL) Microfilter.
The EZ-DSL Microfilters are used to connect telephones at the customer premise to the premise telephone wiring. The microfilters ensure that transient noise from the premise telephones do not interfer with the proper operation of xDSL modems installed at the customer premise.
This section discusses the following topics:
There are two versions of the EZ-DSL Microfilter:
The in-line microfilter is a 2.50" x 1.00" x 1.03" plastic enclosure that houses a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly and an RJ-11 female connector at either end. The top-level assembly includes a 6' RJ-11 to RJ-11 pigtail for connection to the wall outlet.
The wall-mount version is a 4.50" x 2.75" plastic plate used in conjunction with wall-mount telephones. The wall-mount microfilter is installed in place of the standard telephone jack outlet where a wall-mount telephone is used.
The RJ-11 connectors use the pinouts listed in Table 1.
