These release notes for the Cisco DVB CAR100 Cable Access Router support CAR100 Software Release 1.1g. These release notes are updated as needed to describe new features, memory requirements, hardware support and configuration software, and related documents.

Introduction

The Cisco CAR100 DVB cable access router is a cable modem based on the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard. It enables bidirectional data communication at bit rates up to 10 Mbps between a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) network and an Ethernet network consisting of 1 to 20 PCs. The Cisco DVB CAR100 is typically used to enable broadband Internet access.

Files Included in the Release 1.1g

You can download the files for the Cisco DVB CAR100 Release 1.1g from Cisco Connection Online under http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/sw-access.shtml.

Software Images Available for Download

The following images are available for downloading using the file transfer protocol TFTP:

Some Cisco DVB CAR100 Cable Access Routers that operate with software older than version 0.6i will not accept the car100.bin file. Use the image car100fpga300.bin instead.

Upgrading to a New Software Release

If the software version 1.1g is not already installed on the Cisco DVB CAR100 Cable Access Routers, perform a software update.


Step 1   Install TFTP-image (car100*.bin file) on a TFTP server.

Step 2   Configure the modem using SNMP and specify the directory in which the TFTP-image is located on the TFTP server.

Step 3   Configure the modem using SNMP and specify the IP address of the TFTP server on which the TFTP-image is placed.

Step 4   Start the software update using SNMP.

Step 5   Load the MIB file named rcm.mib

New and Changed Information

There are no new features or functional enhancements or improvements.
