This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the LightStream 2020 CLI Reference Manual. It also lists related Cisco documentation for the LightStream 2020 multiservice ATM switch (LS2020 switch).
Cisco documentation and additional literature are available on a CD called Cisco Connection Documentation, Enterprise Series. The CD is updated and shipped monthly, so it might be more current than printed documentation. The LS2020 switch supports a command line interface (CLI). Refer to the LightStream 2020 Network Operations Guide for an overview of the CLI, including information about accessing the CLI and using its command-completion and help facilities.
This manual provides detailed information about each of the commands that is available from the CLI, and about some test and control system (TCS) commands. It also provides a description of the management information base (MIB) used to manage LS2020 switches.
The LightStream 2020 CLI Reference Manual is intended for anyone who operates an LS2020 network. Users of the LS2020 document set are expected to have a general understanding of basic data communications concepts and some practical knowledge of the UNIX operating system.
This manual has seven chapters and one appendix.
- Chapter 1, "The Set Command," describes the set command for configuring and controlling LS2020 attributes.
- Chapter 2, "The Show Command," describes the show command for displaying values of LS2020 attributes.
- Chapter 3, "The Define and Delete Commands," describes two commands for defining, changing, and deleting virtual LAN internetworking (VLI) constructs: traffic filters, traffic profiles, and multicast groups.
- Chapter 4, "CLI Control Commands," describes other monitoring and control commands and commands used to configure the CLI session.
- Chapter 5, "MIB Commands," describes commands for setting and displaying individual MIB objects.
- Chapter 6, "Diagnostic Commands in the CLI," describes commands for diagnostic testing.
- Chapter 7, "LightStream 2020 MIB Reference," shows the structure of the LightStream enterprise MIB and describes how to read the private MIB file and interpret its contents, including the address, type, and values of each attribute.
The following conventions distinguish different types of text:
- Commands and keywords are in boldface.
- In interactive examples, user input is in boldface.
- In command syntax statements
- Parameters (variables for which a specific value is to be typed) are in italics.
- Optional arguments are in square braces.
- Alternative arguments are separated by vertical bars, and are grouped within curly braces.
- Names of keys on the keyboard are in square braces, such as the [Tab] key.
- A control key is indicated by a caret preceding a letter: ^A means Control-A.

- Provides the information you need to configure LS2020 switches. It describes the configuration tools and the procedures for using them, introduces the configuration database, and defines all configurable attributes and their settings. The guide also provides step-by-step configuration procedures.
- LightStream 2020 Network Operations Guide
- Presents an overview of network tasks. It introduces the command line interface (CLI) and the graphical user interface (GUI), and it describes GUI-based monitoring procedures. The manual also describes facilities for viewing statistics and collecting traffic data.
- LightStream 2020 NP O/S Reference Manual
- Discusses the most frequently used LynxOS commands and the bash shell. It also provides a tutorial and reference guide for the vi editor.
- LightStream 2020 Traps Reference Manual
- Discusses LS2020 traps and outlines the procedures used to determine whether traps will be logged and where they will be viewed. The manual also describes the major SNMP, operational, and informational traps.

- Presents the syntax and functions of all CLI commands and describes the LS2020 private MIB.

- Upgrade procedures outline steps involved in upgrading software. Release notes describe new features and special considerations (including known software bugs). Release notes and upgrade procedures are provided for both the platform software and the network management software.
