Provisioning the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution
Provisioning the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution
The Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution allows users to offload voice and data traffic from the TDM network to an IP network. The Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution is very similar to the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Access Servers Solution, but it can be used to offload voice as well as data traffic.
Figure 4-1 shows a typical Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution configuration. The configuration contains:
•Signaling controller node, including the SC host and Cisco SLTs
•LAN switches (not pictured)
•Gateway routers for IP traffic
•Access gateways containing voice cards to carry voice and data traffic

To provision the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution, you perform the same steps as described in these chapters:
• "Provisioning the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Access Servers Solution by Using the TCM/CMM"
• Chapter 3, "Provisioning the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Access Servers Solution by Using MML"
Note The only difference between provisioning the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways Solution and the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Access Servers Solution is that you must add the voice cards as interfaces on the access gateways during provisioning. Refer to the Cisco SS7 Interconnect for Access Servers and Voice Gateways Solutions Media Gateway Guide for information on configuring the voice gateways.
Note Although the configuration can have an optional gatekeeper, you do not provision this gatekeeper by using the Cisco MGC software. The gatekeeper is transparent to the Cisco MGC software and is configured only with the access gateways.
