Overview of the Cisco Unity


Cisco Unity enables you to integrates voice messaging capabilities with your desktop applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes. With Cisco Unity, you can listen to your voice messages and e-mail over the telephone and check voice messages from the Internet.

Working in this solution, Cisco Unity is able to interwork with Digital Private Network Signaling System (DPNSS) and Q.Signaling (QSIG) private branch exchanges (PBXs), through the Cisco EGW. Within this solution, Cisco Unity provides the following features to DPNSS and QSIG PBXs:

Call forward to personal greeting

Call forward to busy greeting

Caller ID

Early message access

Identified subscriber messaging

Message waiting indication

Cisco Unity Requirements to Work With This Solution

For a Cisco Unity system to work within the Cisco EGW 2200 solution the following requirements must be met:

The hardware platform must have at least 1 gigabyte of RAM.

The primary and secondary Cisco Unity servers must be on the same LAN.
