Quick Start
for CiscoSecure Global Roaming Server
Release 1.3

Follow these steps to install the CiscoSecure Global Roaming Server (GRS).

Installation

Note During the installation you are asked questions that have default values displayed inside square brackets. To accept the default, press Enter.

Step 1 Log in to the CiscoSecure  GRS host as root.

Step 2 Insert the CiscoSecure  GRS CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and enter cd  /cdrom to mount the drive.

Step 3 Enter pkgadd -d . to install CiscoSecure  GRS into the /opt/CSCOgrs directory. The following message appears, indicating the version of CiscoSecure  GRS being installed:

1 CSCOgrs CiscoSecure Global Roaming Server
    (sparc) Version x.x

Step 4 The following message displays:

Is this an upgrade installation? (y/n/q)

If this is a new installation, enter n. The following message displays:

You have chosen to install CiscoSecure GRS as a new installation. The installation script will try to detect any previous installations of the CiscoSecure GRS software. If there is a previous version installed, all CiscoSecure GRS data will be deleted from the CiscoSecure GRS installation directory or Oracle database. Would you like to proceed? (y/n/q)

Enter n or q to terminate installation, or enter y and proceed to Step 7.

Caution If you enter y, your existing database information is deleted.

If this is an upgrade to an existing CiscoSecure GRS installation, press y. The installation program tries to detect an existing CiscoSecure GRS instance. If an instance is found, the installation script launches a database upgrade script so that your existing database information is retained. If an existing installation is not found, the installation program displays the following message:

CiscoSecure GRS did not find any previous installations of the software. Continuing to run this installation process will install CiscoSecure GRS as a new installation. It might delete all CiscoSecure GRS data from the CiscoSecure GRS installation directory or Oracle database. Would you like to proceed? (y/n/q)

Enter y to proceed, or enter n or q to terminate installation.

Caution If you enter y, your existing database information is deleted.

The following database tables are updated:

Step 5 This prompt appears:

Press Enter if yes, otherwise, enter n. If you selected yes, you are asked to:

Enter a list of hostnames or IP addresses separated by commas(,):

Enter all the hosts that you want to have this privilege.

Step 6 This prompt appears:

Do you want GRS to start automatically during a system reboot (y/n)? [y]

Press Enter if yes, otherwise, enter n. If you selected yes, the following message appears:

Make sure you configure the local ACS to start automatically during system bootstrap so that it will be ready when GRS is started.

Step 7 This prompt appears:

Do you want to automatically restart GRS when it exits (y/n)? [y]

Press Enter if you want CiscoSecure  GRS to automatically restart after an unexpected shutdown, otherwise, enter n. If you selected yes, you are asked:

Enter how many times you want to auto-restart: [5]
