Modem Standards
ITU V. 25Automatic calling or answering equipment on dialup lines. This standard includes the procedures for disabling echo control devices for calls that are established manually and automatically.
The following list describes known problems with Portware versions 2.2.2.2 and 2.2.3.0. In some cases, workarounds are provided. If a workaround is not provided, the problem requires further investigation or a solution is being developed. For the latest information, consult "Cisco Connection Online."
Note If the client modem is not connecting to MICA or if a K56flex-compatible modem is not connecting at K56flex speed (see Table 2 for modulation speeds), try changing S0 to a setting of 2 to alleviate the problem.
CSCdj55296In certain circumstances, call drops could occur when a K56flex call is established.
CSCdj71728On rare occasions the uplink (receive) rate falls below 19.2 kbps during connection. Fails with various modems and line conditions.
CSCdj85230Modem erroneously reports that it is in Steady_State_retrain mode. No workaround is needed because the modem works properly.
CSCdj45522 & CSCdj54904Occasional call drops may occur when connecting a US Robotics Courrier modem.
CSCdj80580 A V.42bis error occasionally occurs when connected to a Multitech or US Robotics Sportster modem, resulting in a call drop.
CSCdj56697, CSCdj58605, CSCdj38981Unable to connect in MNP 4/5 with some client modems when LAPM is disabled. Since most modems use LAPM instead of MNP 4/5, this problem can be avoided in most cases by using LAPM.
CSCdj44302 and CSCdj13463Uplink connect speeds are temporarily limited to 31.2 kbps max. This will be addressed in a subsequent release.
CSCdj74549Some Zoom 14.4 modems connect in async mode, instead of LAPM, and the call drops after about 10 minutes.
CSCdj50614When a USR X2 Sportster modem on a Macintosh computer is used for an ARA connection, the connection is unsuccessful.
CSCdj73645Occasionaly when using a modem to dial out, the call disconnects within 2 seconds with "no answer."
CSCdj84343On rare occasions, a modem call gets connected in async mode instead of in Error Correction mode.
CSCdj87010The Robbed Bit Signalling (RBS) field displays an incorrect value of 0 when using the show modem command.
Cisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco's customers and business partners.
