Known Issues and Resolutions

The following known issues and resolutions are reported for the September 2008 release of DRD version A.3.2.1962.

Issue Description

DRD does not handle information about a swap device in the kernel registry services (KRS) if the swapon -s command is executed prior to a drd clone command.   The swapon -s command specifies the primary swap device to be used at the next boot.

Issue Resolution

The workaround is to use the swapon -R command, which undoes the effects of the swapon -s command, and then execute the drd clone command.   The swapon -s command can then be reissued on the clone after it is created and booted.

The following known issues and resolutions for cloning VxVM roots are reported for the September 2008 release of DRD version A.3.2.1962.

Issue Description

On HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23): cloning VxVM 4.1 and VxVM 5.0 roots requires installation of VxVM patches.

Issue Resolution

Please go to the DRD Downloads and Updates Web page for download and patch information.

Issue Description

The drd clone command fails on a VxVM-managed system with a root group volume name ending in another root group volume name.   For example, the root volume group names varoptvol and optvol will cause the drd clone command to fail.

Issue Resolution

The root cause of this issue is a defect in the VxVM vxbrk_rootmir command.

A VxVM fix for this issue is not yet available.   Manual changes to the vxbrk_rootmir script for individual cases can be determined by calling the HP Response Center to be connected with an expert.   The phone number for the HP Response Center in the US is: 1-800-633-3600.
