Introduction

This document describes the Cisco MGX 8260 software version R01.02.01.

New Features

This release has the following new features and commands.

New Software Features in Release 1.2.1

This release incluces the following new features:

These include feature operation and support of E1 for the EMEA market.

New CLI Commands in Release 1.2.1

The following new commands are introduced.

stopdisk

stopdisk option (0..1)

This command inhibits access to the hard disk. Since the disk enters the power-cycle, you need to cycle the power off then back on to activate the IDE. Alternatively, unplug the SCC cards and plug them back in. This command is required before Power Reset.

ping

ping IP_Address numPkg (>=1, default: 1) option (default: 0)

This command tests connectivity to a remote host.

Examples:

ping 172.17.38.168 ping 172.17.38.168 2 ping 172.17.38.168 2 200

lstrace

lstrace (no parameters)

This command shows the most recent exception information and the CPU usage, before reboot.

lsprofiler

lsprofiler (no parameter)

This command shows the current CPU usage for the last 1 minute for all the tasks executing on the card.

Installation Notes

This section describe the software upgrade paths and security key requirements for software upgrade.

Upgrade Paths

The following section describes the upgrade path and requirements.

System Software Requirements

R01.02.01 S/W supports graceful upgrade from R01.02.00, R01.01.03 and R01.01.04.

Boot Flash Requirements

Boot flash update is required for all upgrades.

Security Key Code Requirement for Software Download

After upgrading to R01.02.01, the security key is required to download (tftp) fw and bootflash images.

Note   When upgrading software from earlier releases (R01.02.00 or earlier), the security key code is not required.

SCC Card Download

Use the following tftp commands to download SCC software:

tftp> put vxWorks_disk.scc.fw scc.fw.[key] tftp> put vxWorks_boot.scc.fw scc_r01.02.01.fls.[key]
Note   To determine the security key code, use the dspkey command.

BSC Card Download

Use the following tftp commands to download BSC software:

tftp> put vxWorks_dnld.bsc.fw bsc.fw[key] tftp> put vxWorks_boot.bsc.fw bsc_r01.02.01.fls.[key]

NSC Card Download

Use the following tftp commands to download NSC software:

tftp> put vxWorks_dnld.nsc.fw nsc.fw[key] tftp> put vxWorks_boot.nsc.fw nsc_r01.02.01.fls.[key]

Configuration Database Information

You do not need to clear the configuration database for this upgrade.

Caveats

This section describes the open and closed caveats. It also lists those caveats that represent feature enhancements.

Open Caveats - Release 1.2.1

The following caveats are open in this release.

Table 1: Open Caveats
DDTS Number Caveat Description Impact Workaround

CSCdt00079

When 325 connections are established per ENET port the system become unstable

System unstable

Use 4 ENET for network access and keep the maximum number of simultaneous connection to less than 1000

CSCds27723

Use of DiaMain to initialize NSC and SCC Backcards

None.

Only on initial installation of the MGX8260 in manufacturing

Use DiaMain to set the initial configuration for the SCC and NSC Backcards to be recognized.

CSCds60659

End points stuck after 40 Calls/sec with 10% COT run in 2 hrs

After 2 hours run at 40 calls/sec and 10% COT, endpoints are stuck. No new calls can be made until the endpoint are forced to clear. Other than COT, normal system behavior and calls are not impacted.

None

CSCds68955

COT fails at 4 COT per second after two hours (at 40 cps)

After two hours, the solution is almost frozen. Most of the calls (and sometimes all of them) are failing.

None

CSCds89982

Setting 480 calls on NSC, Inconsistent speech latency within an E1 DS0 lines

Inconsistency in VoIP Speech Latency on E1 DS0s. On some E1 DS0s the latency varies widely and can be as long as 1000ms.

None

CSCds90738

NSC card when reset sends RAI in error

If an user adds an E1 line with "dsx1E1" framing, or reset the NSC card which has an E1 line with "dsx1E1" framing, the MGX8260 will send out an "RAI" to the Far End. This problem is due to an incorrect setup on the COMET chip.

The only way to stop sending out an "RAI" is to momentarily disconnect the cable.

CSCdt00032

Cells are being dropped when there is 2300 connections

Cells are being dropped slowly when there are 2300 connections with 4 ethernet line active.

CSCdt00144

MGCP - no reply to MDCX

Call will not be established for that endpoint.

None

CSCdt00462

SCS-reset message should reset the COT process

COT will be refused on that endpoint. Calls can still go through.

None

CSCdr88819

Multiple tftp connections cause task tTftp to crash

Only happens with scripts ran on NT

Use tftp on workstation.

Don't run script on NT.

CSCds14325

BSC card to become standby but stay inBoot forever after switchover

Minimal. This only happens when Both BSC are reset at the same time.

Reset redundant BSC, one at a time

CSCds63355

WebViewer on 5 users

This only happen when 5 users log in at exact same time and our web server can not dispatch the resources properly when 5 users request the same pages.

The probability for this situation is small, and hardly to produce. Later on, we can use a more powerful web server to handle this problem.

CSCds66541

SCC switchover -- Telnet session hangs for a long time

If user login to standby SCC by telnet and SCC switchover occurs, that telnet session will takes 20 seconds to re-establish the connection.

Always telnet to the active SCC or initiate a new telnet session after the SCC switchover can avoid the long connection re-establish delay.

CSCds67512

Logging on WebViewer for the 1st time

Sometimes you need log in twice to get into the web viewer.

This will be solves in 1.3 and right now you just need log in web viewer at the second time after relogin and all other functions work properly.

CSCds86081

When active SCC failure and switchover, 'lscds' does not indicate any card failure.

None. The standby SCC take over. Trap already generated when active SCC fails.

None

CSCds87042

Channel 12th of every DSP sounds weird when config CODEC = G.729

The channel cannot be used. If it is used, the voice cannot be heard clearly.

Do not use channel 12 of every DSP.
