NAME
tic — terminfo compiler
SYNOPSIS
tic
[-v
[n]]
[-c]
file ...
DESCRIPTION
tic
translates terminfo files from source format
into the compiled format.
Results are placed in the directory
/usr/share/lib/terminfo.
- -vn
Specifies that (verbose) output be written to standard
error trace information showing tic's progress. The
optional integer
n
is a number from 1 to 10, inclusive,
indicating the desired level of detail of information. If
n
is omitted, the default level is 1. If
n
is specified and greater than 1, the level of detail is
increased.
- -c
Specifies to check only file for errors. Errors in
use=links
are not detected.
tic
compiles all terminfo descriptions in the given files.
When a
use=
field is discovered,
tic
searches first the current file, then the master file which
is
./terminfo.src.
If the environment variable
TERMINFO
is set, the results are placed in the location specified by
TERMINFO
instead of in
/usr/share/lib/terminfo.
Limitations: total compiled entries cannot exceed 4096 bytes.
The name field cannot exceed 128 bytes.
FILES
- /usr/share/lib/terminfo/?/*
compiled terminal capability data base
BUGS
Instead of searching
./terminfo.src,
tic
should check for an existing compiled entry.
