HP Integrity Servers are capable of running multiple types of operating systems (for example, HP-UX 11i, Linux, and Microsoft Windows). Depending on your server model, multiple versions of these operating systems might also be supported.

If you only have a single available core, you cannot have multiple operating systems running simultaneously. However, you can have multiple boot disks (or logical boot volumes), each containing a different operating system, and you can choose which to boot from on any given boot.

On HP 9000 servers, you can also have multiple versions of HP-UX (or other supported operating systems) installed on different disks (or logical boot volumes) and select your desired boot volume at boot time.

NOTE: This multiple boot capability works equally well for servers with more than one active core. It is presented here because this is an available function for servers containing only one active core.
