Other Cisco Documentation
C
isco has other methods of providing information to Cisco users.
It provides seminars and presentations regarding new products and new
network solutions.
Cisco also publishes Cisco books in a collection called Cisco Press. The
books are written by Cisco to provide more information on products,
technologies, case studies, and implementation. These books can be
found on CCO at http://www.cisco.com/cpress/home/home.htm.
Summary
C
isco provides several means of getting important information. The
Cisco Connection Family is designed to perform two functions: prevent
problems from occurring, and resolve them when they do occur. It achieves
these goals in the following ways:
Cisco provides product and technology documentation, including
configuration guides online and on CD-ROM. It also allows the user
to purchase needed equipment using Cisco MarketPlace, Pricing
Agent, and the Configuration Agent.
The Software Agent provides access to IOS images, as well as plan-
ning tools to make sure that the correct version and feature set are
chosen for the right router or switch. Patches are also available
when necessary.
To help correct problems after they occur, Cisco has several online
services besides the TAC:
Bug Navigator, Bug Alerts, and Bug Watcher are tools available to the
user to track IOS bug information.
The Troubleshooting Engine and Assistant can be used to solve
simple network problems. It is an interactive tool that allows the
user to provide symptoms and answer questions to aid in isolating
and potentially resolving network failures.
