Catalyst Command Line Interface
Many administrators prefer the command line interface, especially if they are
already experienced with the Cisco IOS. Although the GUI applications can
simplify many functions, and (in some cases) address functions not available
from the command line interface (CLI), they fail to provide the speed and
simplicity of CLI.
The CLI provides a wealth of configuration and diagnostic tools for the admin-
istrator. Commands include the set and clear options that are used to configure the
switch, and the
show
commands to monitor the current settings.
