Cisco's Diagnostic Commands
Commands Used in This Chapter
T
he following list contains a summary of all the commands used in
this chapter.
Command
Description
exception dump
Configures the router to perform a
core dump via TFTP or FTP if and
when the router crashes.
Ping
Initiates an ICMP echo request.
There are two levels, User and
Privileged. The IP protocol is used.
ping appletalk
Initiates an AppleTalk ping. There
are two levels, User and Privileged.
ping ipx
Initiates an IPX ping. There are two
levels, User and Privileged.
show access-lists
Displays the specified access list
from the configuration.
show arp
Displays the contents of the ARP
table as well as status.
show buffers
Displays buffer statistics for the
router.
show controllers cbus
Displays the buffer information on
line cards connected to the cbus.
show interface
Displays interface-specific settings
and statistics.
show interface accounting
Displays statistical information
regarding protocols on the
interface.
show logging
Displays logs for the router
including traps and system errors.
Can also provide logs when logging
access-lists.
show memory
Displays the statistics and status of
the router's memory.
