Chapter 4
Cisco's Diagnostic Commands
User EXEC Mode
The user mode of the traceroute command allows only the default options
when using the command. Here is a sample output:
Router_B>traceroute www.netscape.com
Translating "www.netscape.com"...domain server
(172.16.4.2) [OK]
Type escape sequence to abort.

Router_B>
As you can see, the nslookup for the first two hops failed. The RTTs
for the three probes follow. The times increment as the packet moves
closer to the destination address. In addition to the DNS entry, IP
address, and RTT, the AS number is also listed.
Here is another sample that includes timeouts and administratively
denied probes:
Router_B>traceroute www.novell.com
Translating "www.novell.com"...domain server (172.16.4.2)
[OK]
Type escape sequence to abort.
