Protocol Attributes
NetWare has to use special formats to connect to the Data-Link layer. It
uses encapsulation to do this. This encapsulation takes all of the upper-layer
data and frames it in preparation for transport. NetWare originally used
802.3 raw. Now, NetWare uses several encapsulation types for Ethernet/
IEEE 802.3.
When you talk about frame types, you need to be careful to understand
whose definition or name you are using. Table 2.14 summarizes the names
and equivalencies for the Layer 2 frame types. Figure 2.22 gives a graphical
description of the following encapsulations.
